Full Moon Snowshoe
Snow Shoeing February 14, 2017[envira-gallery id=”1311″]
I felt so, so happy and truthfully, quite relieved that the weather was on our side for the full moon snowshoe last Friday night. I had been feeling discouraged by the cancellations and rescheduling I’d had to do three times over the past few months. When you like life to go just so (as I do), it’s tough to bend to the will of the weather. And I also don’t like disappointing members who are counting on an experience. But it all came together on Friday night. The moon was full (obvi!), we had plenty of snow for snowshoeing and the night air held that magical crispness of winter in Maine. Our walk took us off the path and through unbroken snow. Some of us had headlamps, but they were almost unneeded as the moon lit everything around us. We snowshoed past Mr. Benjamin’s old barn, skirted the woods and finally returned to the parking lot before heading to dinner at my mom’s house. For the potluck assignments I had left it up to luck and it all worked out. There was good wine, hearty chili, great salads, yummy sides and delicious desserts. It was pretty fabulous to visit with everyone while hanging out in our long underwear! Well, maybe that was just me in my long underwear. But still, the evening was casual, warm and full of funny and lively conversation.
I would do that exact same adventure every weekend if my life permitted it.
Big shout outs to Catherine, Carla, Blanche, Casey, Jeanne, Kate, Kerry, Shannon, Ainsley, Paula, Ann and Liz for gearing up and getting out.
