Bike Adventure
BikingBlog May 14, 2023Hi all:
This past Thursday morning I had my first outside bike ride and even though I slept poorly, didn’t hear my alarm (pillow over my head to block out the 5 a.m. birdsong), and almost cancelled, I had the best time. As I pulled my tired and stiff body out of bed, I told myself that I would regret not showing up and the pain and fogginess of too little sleep would pass. Guess what, it did. Ann and I rode our bikes to Higgins Beach, watched dogs romp in the ocean, saw a couple of surfers catching (or trying to catch) waves, and chatted the entire length of the almost 20-mile bike ride. Winter is my fav, but okay, spring is frickin’ awesome too. Yesterday, while hiking the Ledges Trail at Pleasant Mountain with Susie and Rachel (saw LACer Sandra on the trail with a bunch of friends), it was impossible not to marvel at the popping buds and leaves and enjoy all the hues of greens spring brings us. The kayak is making an appearance next week and I’m excited to see what spring joys that paddle reveals. There’s so much available to us and it feels like not enough daylight to smoosh it all in. Next week I’m walking with my aunt and we’re heading out to Libby Hill Preserve. While doing recon for the trails, I came across the Royal River Conservation Trust 400′ Footer Club and saw two LAC members on the list: Rota Knott and Laura Shen. Are you on there too?
Here’s an article about one of our LAC members, MaryBeth Mathews. Huge kudos and congrats, MaryBeth. Sounds like Bowdoin Women’s Rugby was incredibly fortunate to have you at the helm over the past 29 years.
Happy Adventuring,
