Meditation with Essential Oils
Meditating May 13, 2016Tonight’s guided meditation evening was lovely and very different (with a few similarities) from the one we did a few weeks ago. During this evening’s meditation Kara led us through a 40-minute meditation focusing on seven of the body’s chakras. I think they were: root; womb; solar plexus; heart; throat; third eye and crown. As we moved between the chakras, Kara tapped a drop of essential oil into our palms and we rubbed it between our hands and breathed in the scent. Each scent connected in some way to the chakra. My memory is not good enough to match the oil with the chakra, but some of the oils were: basil; eucalyptus; lavender; ylang ylang and frankincense — I guess there were two more, but I can’t remember them although one was a gorgeous bouquet of flowers that reminded me of lush peonies. I think my favorite oil was frankincense; Kara called it liquid gold. For me, guided meditation is a much easier form of meditation and the essential oils definitely enhanced the connection between my mind and my body. It’s so good to sit and still the world around us even if for a short time.
I was really happy to meet a couple of LAC members who I had not yet met and of course connect with members who have participated in other adventures. I love our group and how warm, kind and supportive we are of one another. There’s a palpable feeling that we hold something precious in common – a desire to grow and to have rich experiences beyond the every day. And how nice it is to do this with other women.
Happy adventuring,
