Honeybee Heroes
Blog September 11, 2017Hi all:
You may know that I have a thing for honey bees. I’m mostly enamored with them and sometimes I’m really pissed off at them. But I’m always in awe of them. Did you know that a hive of bees must fly 55,000 miles to produce a pound of honey and that one bee colony can produce 60 to 100 pounds of honey per year (I don’t think mine produce that much though — slackers). Also, an average worker bee makes only about 1/12 of a teaspoon of honey in its lifetime. So these bees work really hard and don’t have any time to recreate. Unlike us, 100% of their life is in service, devoted to their hive. We on the other hand, do make time in our lives for play, adventure and exploration. And this is important to both our mental and physical health. I believe that by adventuring, we are better and happier parents, partners, friends, workers, and members of our own communities. I’m hopeful that being part of the LAC has given you one path to discovering adventures that excite and engage you — with a group of fabulous women. If you haven’t yet been on an adventure, please join us for one and then one more…
Our meditation classes in November and January are full, but there are always cancellations so email me if you would like to add your name to a wait list. Seth Rigoletti’s Workshop on Presence is also full, but I’m happy to start a wait list for that as well. You can read more about Seth’s work here.
Coming up soon on September 25th, we have Ann Murray’s talk and slideshow about her recent and powerful trip to Bosnia. Let me know if you’d like to join us that evening. It will be here at my house in Portland.
