Yoga at Sunflower Farm
Yoga June 30, 2017I don’t know that I ever want to practice yoga inside again. Last Wednesday evening Hope Hall, owner of Sunflower Farm in Cumberland hosted a group of us for an evening of yoga and baby goat cuddling. I drove out from Portland to Cumberland loving the visual shift from city to country. Arriving at Sunflower Farm I discovered what a bucolic treasure it is — baby goats, mama goats, gray cats and a deaf puppy named Frances roamed around the fields, the driveway and in and out of the barn.
Seriously, yoga outside is the best. The sun was setting, the moon was rising and the green tree tops were always in my field of vision. Doing yoga in a field is for sure not as neat and clean as yoga in a studio; I had to maneuver my hands around rocks and bumpy ground and there might have been a few bug bites, but the joy of breathing in all that clean air and soaking up the setting sun was so worth any little bits of discomfort.

After yoga, we all had a chance to snuggle with the baby goats and ooh and ahh over the adorable Newfoundland puppy. Hope also showed us how goat cheese is made and a few of us bought some of her super fresh and delicious Sunflower Farm Creamery cheese.
If you’re sad that you missed this LAC adventure (and you should be a little sad), Hope opens her farm every Thursday evening for yoga from 5:30-6:30. But show up early to get a spot in the field — it’s a jam-packed event. Here is the website of her farm. Check it out and stop in for a visit if you can. Give that little Frances a smooch from me.
Happy adventuring,
